To anticipate a future retirement, Hays is recruiting a Project Engineer on behalf of a well-known Belgian player in railway signaling and electromechanical installations. Active for over 50 years, this human-sized company (around 25 employees) stands out for its strong technical culture, collaborative approach, and openness to diversity. Its clients are well-known in the railway sector: NMBS, De Lijn, MIVB, Infrabel, etc. The environment is multicultural, everyone speaks their native language, and the structure is horizontal, promoting autonomy and mutual support.

As a Project Engineer within the Rolling Stock department, you will be responsible for the technical and operational coordination of railway projects. You will work alongside two senior engineers, one junior engineer, and five technicians. You will provide technical and commercial support during the sale, delivery, and commissioning of materials intended for NMBS, VVL De Lijn, STIB, etc. You will be the point of contact between clients, suppliers, and internal teams. You will work from the Zaventem office, on-site, or remotely (after the training period). Site visits are possible throughout Belgium (currently many clients are located in the north of the country).

- End-to-end project management: planning, quality, budget

- Participation in site meetings and technical follow-up

- Drafting offers in response to public tenders

- Prototype assembly, commissioning, and testing

- Compliance with ISO and VCA standards and contribution to quality system improvement

- Collaboration with maintenance and administrative teams

- Participation in major fairs and events

- Master’s degree in industrial engineering (mechanical, electromechanical, or electrical)

- Several years of experience in electrotechnical project management

- Fluent in French, Dutch, and English (minimum B2 level in all three languages); knowledge of German is a plus

- Comfortable with ERP systems (ideally Business Central or SAP)

- Demonstrates leadership, autonomy, flexibility, and stress resilience

- Solution-oriented and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

- Permanent contract (CDI)

- 40-hour work week with 12 additional leave days. Annual closure between Christmas and New Year

- Remote work possible after training

- Gross monthly salary between €3,500 and €5,500, depending on experience
