Hays is looking for an IT Operations Manager for an established company active in the publishing and distribution sector. Located in the Antwerp region, this organisation employs around 45 people and is known for its flat structure, short decision lines and hands-on culture. As part of a small internal IT team, you will have a direct impact on the business and work closely with management on both operational and strategic IT topics.
Your new role
As IT Operations Manager, you will be part of a small internal IT team responsible for the company's entire IT environment. This is a broad and hands-on role where you combine end-user support, supplier management, project coordination and process improvement.
You will serve as a key point of contact for colleagues throughout the organisation and help ensure the continuity, stability and further development of the IT landscape.
You will help oversee the company's entire IT landscape. You will not only resolve technical issues but also contribute to operational decisions, coordinate external partners and help define priorities for future IT improvements. Working closely with management, you will play an active role in ensuring that technology, processes and business needs remain aligned.
Your responsibilities include:
- Providing hands-on IT support across the organisation, ranging from end-user support to infrastructure and application-related issues
- Troubleshooting hardware, software, network and workplace-related problems
- Acting as a visible and approachable point of contact for users in a walk-in support environment
- Coordinating and following up incidents, requests and operational IT challenges from start to finish
- Supporting the administration and continuity of business-critical systems and applications
- Helping drive the ongoing Odoo migration and supporting users during the transition
- Acting as the link between business users, external IT suppliers and software partners
- Monitoring IT processes, operational risks and improvement initiatives
- Analysing situations, identifying priorities and contributing to operational IT decisions
- Managing and coordinating small to medium-sized IT projects
- Following up external service providers and ensuring agreed actions are delivered
- Supporting facility-related activities that contribute to the smooth running of the organisation
- Occasionally travelling to the Netherlands to support colleagues, projects and training activities
Your profile
You are a pragmatic and service-minded IT professional who enjoys working in a varied role with both operational and organisational responsibilities.
As a person, you are down-to-earth, approachable and confident enough to challenge suppliers when needed. You enjoy taking ownership, can work independently and are comfortable giving as well as receiving constructive feedback. Ideally, you bring:
- Fluency in Dutch and a professional working knowledge of French in IT Support, IT Operations, IT Coordination or a similar role
- Experience managing or coordinating IT projects and improvement initiatives
- Experience working with external IT vendors and software partners
- A broad understanding of infrastructure, networks, workplace technologies and business applications
- Experience supporting end users in an on-site environment
- Strong organisational and follow-up skills
- The ability to analyse situations, assess priorities and make pragmatic decisions
- The ability to act as a bridge between business users, management and technology partners
- A structured, proactive and hands-on mindset
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to interact with different stakeholders
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably Odoo, is considered an advantage
