5 ways to get through the holiday season at work

The most wonderful time of the year is just around the corner. The season’s festivities can be overwhelming sometimes, especially in combination with work. Keeping the positive vibes of such a festive season alive, can be a true challenge. That’s why planning ahead of time is key for a successful holiday season at the office! We have five tips lined up to get you through the holiday season at work!

1. Plan & prepare

No one can manage working during the holiday season without an achievable plan and proper preparation. So make sure to start planning this period beforehand. This can be a month or even two weeks in advance. For example if you manage a blog: prepare some extra articles, schedule publishing and social sharing,… way before the holidays.

2. Assign roles & responsibilities

Teamwork makes the dream work. In order for the holiday season to go smoothly, you’ll not only need to prepare an achievable plan, but you’ll also need a team for proper execution. Delegating responsibilities to the right people is crucial. This will ensure that the tasks will be done correctly and on time. Make sure these are people you fully trust, so your mind can be at ease when you’re out of the office.

3. Make an achievable to do list

After gathering a trustworthy team, it’s time to distribute the different tasks. An achievable to do list will keep the team from getting overwhelmed or stressed out by the workload. This is the most organized way to work together and it will make sure everything is done on time. Make sure to consider the time frame when prioritizing your tasks. The top priorities can go at the top of the to do list, while less urgent tasks can go at the bottom to be done when time allows.

4. Outsource, if needed/possible

If most of your company celebrates the holiday season, it might be an even better idea to outsource some important tasks. Thankfully, you can hire developers, designers, online marketeers,… on an hourly or daily basis.

5. Don’t forget to relax & enjoy yourself

It’s always important for the office to be a positive work environment, especially during such a magical season. Moments of relaxation relieves stress and results into more productivity and a better focus. Employers can gift holiday presents, organize an office end of year party, offer a more flexible schedule during the season,... While employees can organize a Secret Santa gift exchange within their team. All these ideas contribute to a more stress-free office environment during the holidays.

The end of the year can be seen as a period full of opportunities. Employees who celebrate Christmas and New Year’s get to relax with family and friends, while other colleagues (also) get a chance to do other tasks and show their talents. Meanwhile, when you’re an employer, assigning the right job roles to the right people in your team will make everything run smoothly while you’re away. Don’t miss out on this magical opportunity for your company and team!
